Game State Step 1

Create a simple game with one keyboard-controlled sprite and one object to capture. The win condition is the player must move their sprite into the other object. When the player hits the other object they win. Make this game have a splash screen, a win screen, and a lose screen. The transition between these screens is to be controlled by the world class variable "gameState" and the code to make the transitions should be found in the World's act( ) method. See game7 for example code.

Four Loops

I pesonally have very little trouble understanding concepts unless it is to abstract or to math related. But this "four loops" concept is really something crazy when i intially thought about that i had a hard time doing it but once i got it, i was able to get it, i made a line for each letter and then i made coordinates and i got it, four loops is to hard

the for loops

I really don't like the for loops because they are confusing. They do help a lot but they are hard to remember and to do. The for loops can be super helpful, but I don't like them at all. So, yah.

Understanding Programming

Programming has been getting significantly easier for me over the last few weeks. To really get your game to do what you want, you have to understand how the computer thinks and what the code is doing at each "heartbeat". Just by looking at what the directions are and understanding your code at the same time is enough for you to understand. When I first started this class things were really complicated for me. I was asking many questions, which is not a bad thing, but it made me feel like I was not understanding it.

P4Games at MLK

Understanding The Programing

I understand the code more and more as we progress into the programing. The thing I really understood is how to make our character move faster. Meaning you do not have to increase the speed of the game itself just the character. All you have to do is double the set locations to make your character move faster. If you want to increase the speeds of the objects you are catching then just increase the speed of the game. All in all i am getting this more and more.

Why Has gaming class gotten easier.

Gaming class has gotten easier for a lot of reasons, because with a soild record of the codes that i have, i have been able to build for each assignment rather than start anew, I have been blessed to have very little errors per class and God has allowed me the abilite to comprehend most of whats going on to the point where this might very well be my career of choice, So God did it.

Role Model Game : Fez by Kokoromi

Rotate perspectives in a platformer

Fez has the look of a standard pixelated platformer, replete with cutesy characters and whimsical worlds. The key difference is that it gets rendered to play as a 3d game. So in a way, Fez is neither 2 dimensions or 3 dimensions, but halfway ... 2.5d !

Role Model Game : Braid by Jonathan Blow

is played by solving physical puzzles in a somewhat standard video game environment like Super Mario Bros. with jumping and enemies. This is made innovative by the player's ability to reverse time and "rewind" one's actions, even after dying. Complicated puzzles result from features like objects that don't rewind with the rest of the universe and "ghosts" of the player's actions before rewinding.

What is your favorite game? And why is it your favorite game?

My favorite game is Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube. It has a lot of characters from the Nintendo franchise. The game is a fighting/action game that features all stars from many series like Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. They pit them into an arena where they can fight using various items. Melee is the second installment of a series that made its debut on the Nintendo 64. The third installment is coming soon on the Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and its going to be even more spectacular.

What is a method? How does a computer use one?

A method is a function. Method's are like...the act or public boolean method's. A method is called on every heart beat of the game. During this heart beat, the method will tell the character what to do and how to act during this heart beat.

What is a method? How does a computer use one?

A method is kind of like a command. It helps the code of the sprite, in the game world move or do something. For example, the public void act is a method that contains part of the public boolean which is another method. That can a llow the sprite to do an action. So basically a method is a command that is integrated into a code.

My favorite game

My favorite game really is depends on the mood, like for instance there are times where i just got to play madden, I like that game because i like football, and since i have a dude in hall of fame mode that is unstoppable the game is fun, other times i need to play a rpg or an mmorpg, games where you have characters and a storyline and they get stronger as the story progresses and there are bosses, like final fanatsy, i like these games a lot because they are challenging and addicting and very interesting.

Code Writing

In my programing class we have just started so we are just covering the basics of writing code. This is not my first exposure to code writing sense I have been in webpage design, computer building, movie making, music editing and mixing, DVD and CD making and finalizing. But I like this class because it is very specialized. I mean GAME DESIGN!!

So far...

So far in this class, we have been using Redhood1 and Greenfoot. We have learned how to make the sprite move diagonally, and changing it's code to let it do that. Changing the code is not very difficult, at first it was however. I didn't even understand how to make the board appear on Greenfoot. But all that has changed because now I can even change its code. All I have trouble is remembering how to do all that, but it comes back eventually. The only frustration that I have is that the codes are very easy to mess up one.
